Our Certificate

Southeast Elementary was presented the Title I Distinguished School Status Award.  We were presented the award for being among the top 20 Title 1 school in the state that have effectively closed achievement gaps between black and white student subgroups in reading, language arts, and mathematics for two or more consecutive years according to test results.  Mr. Powell, Southeast Elementary Principal, and Mr. Hodges, Lauderdale County Schools Superintendent, represented S.E.E. at the recent Champions of Change, Winning the Future Across Mississippi Awards and Recognition Banquet in Jackson. They were presented a plaque and a large check by Dr. Carey Wright, Mississippi Superintendent of Education.   The check was for $23,750.05!!!   We are all so proud of the teachers, support staff, administrators and most importantly, STUDENTS who have worked so hard to improve skills in these areas and earn this award.

We are planning to purchase chromebooks and projectors with the money.  We are hoping to get 80 Chromebook laptops. These will benefit the students in many ways. They can use them through out the year for regular classroom assignments and it will help them to be very comfortable with the technology and concentrate more on the actual questions when they have to take a standardized test on the computer.
